Universal Court
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This urban in-fill development of 32 new low-income apartments in South Philadelphia replaced dilapidated row houses with new housing stock that fits the context of the urban surrounding. Each unit is two-stories - one stacked upon the other. The development covers both sides of the block, allowing for a new courtyard between the two rows of units. This courtyard provides natural light and access to the lower units, and a play area for the younger residents. (with Bower Lewis Thrower Architects)
